This month IngeniousEd. completed a 12-hour, in-depth teaching methodology program for teachers in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Sponsored by the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, the "Teaching Methods for Excellence" Program was designed as a professional development program for teachers looking to improve their practical skills.
Delivered in both English and Arabic, the TME program was designed to teach 32 skills that centered around Teacher Presence (classroom and behaviour management skills), Assessment for Learning (assessment tools and practices), Student Engagement (active learning activities) and Teacher Effectiveness Skills (instructing). Teachers were given opportunities to discuss their experiences in context while practicing individual strategies with colleagues through role plays.
Participants were teachers from a variety of local schools (RAK Education Zone) and private schools within the region of Ras Al Khaimah.
IngeniousEd. also conducted visits to participants' schools with staff from the Foundation in order to see the strategies being practiced in-action.
The TME was found to be successful in achieving its outcomes and will continue to be run in the next round of professional courses at the Foundation.
